Co-op Member Reward notices are sent out each March. For example, the Co-op Member Reward you earn on purchases made in 2022 will be issued in March 2023 and expires on January 3, 2025. Active members who earned a Co-op Member Reward and/or REI Co-op Mastercard Rewards on eligible purchases during the previous year will receive a notice in March via mail or email.

Only active REI Co-op members receive a Co-op Member Reward notice. To be an active member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases (purchases minus credits and returns) of at least $10 per year, unless you joined during that calendar year.

All eligible REI merchandise purchases posted between 1/1–12/31 earn a Co-op Member Reward, reduced by any items returned for refund or credit. If your reward has already been calculated, then the reward is deducted from any returns.

REI Co-op Members receive their Total REI Rewards notice via mail or email each March.

Your Co-op Member Reward is based on eligible net qualified purchases, which exclude REI Outlet items, sale, clearance, discounted items, used gear, gift cards, REI classes and events, shipping charges, service fees (e.g., rentals, labor, shop services), membership fee, REI Cooperative Action Fund donations, postage, event tickets, passes or registrations, government agencies and sales tax.

Good news: Keep in mind that many of these REI items still let you earn 5% back* in REI Co-op® Mastercard® Rewards rewards when you buy them with your REI Co-op Mastercard. That includes gear that’s on sale, REI adventure travel trips, RE/Supply used gear, REI gift cards, and even donations to the REI Cooperative Action Fund.

*You will earn 5% back in REI Co-op Mastercard Rewards on net purchases (purchases minus any credits or returns) made at REI retail locations and rei.com. Purchases include full-price and discount-price items, REI gift cards, REI classes and events, services and fees. You will also earn 5% in REI Co-op Mastercard Rewards for donations made to the 501(c)(3) REI Cooperative Action Fund at REIfund.org or in-store at point-of-sale. Purchases made on promotional credit plans at REI do not qualify for rewards.

You may request a retroactive Co-op Member Reward credit for eligible purchases online or by calling Senior Service at 1-800-426-4840; have your receipt handy as you’ll need it to provide information about your purchase. A Co-op Member Reward* may be credited to you for purchases you made within the current calendar year. However, your Rewards cannot be credited for purchases that occurred before you became an REI Co-op member.
