Best Driving Route

From Phoenix, take AZ-87 to Payson, then AZ-260 to Show Low, continue toward Greer, and follow signs to the reservoir.

River Reservoir Trail Route

No major trails, but shoreline paths and nearby Greer forest trails offer easy access for fishing, wildlife viewing, and photography.

Vehicle Type

Accessible by regular cars. Only the last short section is gravel; high-clearance recommended in wet or snowy weather.

Tonto Pass

Not required. The reservoir is not in Tonto National Forest.
