General Access

Open year-round, with peak use between April–October, and managed jointly by Arizona Game & Fish and the Town of Pinetop-Lakeside.

Best Driving Route

Take AZ-87 North to Payson, continue on AZ-260 East through Heber-Overgaard into Pinetop-Lakeside, then follow local signs to Rainbow Lake—all paved roads.

Rainbow Lake Trail Route

No official trail, but short shoreline paths, nearby Woodland Lake Park trails, and easy fishing access points make it great for casual walks and photography.

Vehicle Type

Accessible for all standard vehicles, with paved access throughout and parking available at public access points and the boat ramp.

Tonto Pass

Not required, Rainbow Lake is not within Tonto National Forest.
