Ashurst Lake is open for day use and camping, most of the year, depending on weather and road conditions.
The easiest way to reach Ashurst Lake is from Flagstaff via Lake Mary Road followed by a forest road turnoff to the lake.
From Flagstaff- Take Lake Mary Road → turn left onto FR 82E → follow signs to Ashurst Lake (about 4 miles on graded dirt).
Passenger cars can reach the lake in dry conditions, but during monsoon season a high-clearance vehicle is recommended due to muddy or rutted forest roads.
Not required. Ashurst Lake is located in Coconino National Forest, not the Tonto National Forest.
